State Reception Centre - Fraser's | Featured Perth Wedding Venue | Wedding Reception Photos

Our first featured venue is the well known State Reception Centre at Fraser's Restaurant, King's Park.

We're privileged to be on the preferred supplier list for this prestigious venue which overlooks Perth CBD, the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay.

The State Reception Centre was opened in 2011 after it was refurbished for CHOGM as a purpose built venue for the meeting.

One of our favourite parts of the venue is the balcony which is made from re-purposed floor boards from the Perry Lakes Stadium which hosted the 1962 Commonwealth Games.

Here is a link to a news article about the unveiling of the new room.

It's quite rare to find such a large venue in Perth, the maximum capacity is 400 banquet style and 700 cocktail style.

We are lucky enough to have photographed lots of beautiful weddings in the State Reception Centre, it is a very neutral room so can be styled to suit all kinds of weddings.

Meet the Staff

We sat down with Brooke Brodie from Fraser's to chat about the venue and what it's like to work with brides.  She's been working at Fraser's since May 2014 and is an expert when it comes to planning the perfect wedding reception in Perth.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It’s hard to pinpoint just one aspect, but my clients will always be at the top of my list. Every couple brings a different approach, style and personality to the mix which keeps my job fun and interesting. They’re always so thankful at the end of the process, and some long term relationships are formed where we receive photos, updates and some come back yearly to celebrate their anniversary and enjoy their wedding menu all over again.

What’s your favourite feature of the State Reception Centre?

The view. Nowhere else in Perth compares in terms of both city and water views. I just love the gumtrees and park surroundings just out of the front windows that make it feel like you’re sitting high above the city – I affectionately call it ‘The Tree House’. To add to this aspect, we can open all of the front glass panels out onto the balcony, so you can achieve more of the marquee feeling, and enjoy the fresh air.

Any advice for brides planning their day?

Take the time to research- know what you want vs what is realistic (we’re very isolated in Perth!), shop around and do not be afraid to ask the hard questions, seek recommendations from friends and family who have recently been through the process and remember, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. You will always get quality where you’re prepared to be flexible in order to achieve it.

What makes the State Reception Centre unique?

Everything – can I say that? From the high canopy ceilings, the crescent shape and the dual bars to the beautiful view and park surroundings, all in a convenient location only minutes from the city centre.

We love working with the team at Fraser's as we know they will look after us as well as they look after their clients.  As you can see from the photos, the room looks spectacular and the food is amazing!  If you're still looking around Perth for your perfect wedding venue, make sure you visit Brooke for a personal tour of the State Reception Centre in King's Park.
